As a patient, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to
- collaborate with the staff in the assessment and improvement of your health condition and to provide the relevant information about your needs.
- notify your physician or health care team of any changes of your health condition.
- follow the treatment plan as established and agreed to with your physician or health care team.
- report to your appointments or to cancel them, if necessary.
THE DAY OF YOUR SURGERY
- Bring your valid health insurance card (RAMQ card).
- Bring a current list of your medications.
- DO NOT EAT ANY FOOD or your surgery will be cancelled.
- Do not take any medication unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. If you take medications for diabetes or anticoagulants (blood thinners), ask your surgeon if you should take your medications on the day of the surgery.
- Do not wear any make-up, cream, body lotion or perfume
- Do not wear any contact lenses, nail polish or artificial nails, jewelry or piercings
- Wear comfortable clothes
- If you are having gynecologic surgery bring 2 sanitary pads with you
- Bring your CPAP machine if you have one
- The CMS Ville Marie surgical center is not responsible in the event of loss, theft or damage of personal or valuable objects
Important Notice:
After your surgery, you will be taken to the recovery room where you will be
under observation for a few hours.
- It is important to arrange for someone to bring you back home following your
operation. For your safety, you should arrange to have someone stay with you
overnight following your surgery
- It is forbidden to drive for the 24 hours following your surgery
- Note that it is prohibited for you to leave alone by taxi or public transportation
